Keys have been opening doors for centuries. This doorknob takes a more modern approach: your fingerprint can become the key.
The biometric door lock combines four ways to get insideāfingerprint, password, mechanical key, and IC card. The fingerprint reader is listed as recognizing a registered fingerprint in less than a second, while the system can store up to 100 fingerprints and 50 passwords.

Why it caught our attention
The interesting part is that all of that technology is packed into something that still looks like a fairly ordinary door handle.
You can use a fingerprint when you don’t want to carry a key, enter a password when that’s more convenient, or fall back on a physical key. IC cards provide another option for people who prefer a simple tap.
It’s also designed as a replacement for compatible existing door hardware rather than a major installation project. The manufacturer says it installs without drilling or wiring and fits wooden doors between 1.18 and 1.97 inches thick.
Good to know
There’s an important setup step: an administrator fingerprint must be registered before normal use. Until an administrator is set, the listing says any fingerprint can unlock the door.
The lock also has a USB port for emergency power from an external power bank. That port does not recharge the lock’s internal batteries.
